Simbu joins the hunger strike against the Sri Lankan Government

The protest against the Sri Lankan government in the ongoing Tamil Eelam issue, is gathering steam with students from a number of colleges joining hands. The Dr. Ambedkar College students are undertaking one such hunger strike at the Tholkappia Poonga, Adyar, Chennai.

Their protest has gained a major shot in the arm as the 'Young Superstar' Silambarasan has decided to join their hunger strike in person. He is expected to stay on for an hour or so and lend his voice and moral support in this issue. The star is on his way to the venue, our source says.

Simbu shoots for Vaalu in Hyderabad

STR is busy with his upcoming flick Vaalu shooting in Hyderabad. Vaalu is directed by debutant Vijay Chander and music has been composed by SS.Thaman. Vaalu will also have Hansika, Santhanam as the main leads. In a social networking site STR tweeted, "Awesome day @ "vaalu" shoot in Hyderabad ... Waiting 4 da biriyani to lay off some steam ;)." Simbu has been busy these days shuffling between the two of his forthcoming films readying for release Vaalu and Vettaimannan. Recently a single from Vaalu, "Love Endravan..." sung by STR has been released. Vaalu is produced by SS Chakravarthy, the film has cinematography by Shakthi and editing by TS Suresh.

STR’s latest achievement

STR clearly values his friendships. It is well known that he sings for his friends. But recently when he sang for the film, Backbench Student which will be released in Tamil and Telugu as a favor for old friend, Mahat Raghavendra he outdid himself.

The actor has rendered the song composed by Sunil Kashyap as a tribute to Ilaiyaraja entirly in Telugu. Not only that, STR gave an interview speaking in proper Telugu and saying that he was happy to have been a part of this effort. He said the lyrics are the highlight of this song and also took the opportunity to wish Mahat good luck for his film which has Piaa Bajpai playing the heroine. Very impressive STR!

The new commonality between Ajith and Simbu

Ajith is known for his strict policy of not attending film-related events like music launches, victory celebrations and such. He has been standing by this principle since long and only rarely can we spot Ajith in events. Even if the event is surrounding his own film's promotions, the star isn't to be seen.

Now his biggest celeb fan, Simbu, has also decided to follow the same way laid out by Thala. He is going to remain mum even when it comes to the promotions of his films, it seems. We have to see how STR goes about his business when his future films like Vaalu and Vettai Mannan near their release.s

Nayanthara says No to item number in SRK film!

Recently, top director Rohit Shetty approached south sensation Nayanthara to do an item number for his upcoming romantic comedy, the Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika starrer Chennai Express.

This film about a man's journey from Mumbai to Rameshwaram and what happens along the way, has strong south presence in its content. 

So when director Shetty decided to have a top actress to do an item song, it was Nayanthara's name which cropped up as she has a market in all four south Indian languages. 

But the grapevine has it that, Nayan was not interested to make her Bollywood debut with an item number and politely refused. The actress who is busy with five films in hand is one of the busiest stars down south.

STR’s ‘Vaalu’ single on his birthday

STR's Vaalu single is releasing on the star's birthday on February 3 and audio launch is being planned on February 14, Valentine day.

Vaalu is said to be a romantic comedy film directed by debutant Vijay Chander. The film feature Silambarasan and Hansika in lead roles along with Santhanam, Brahmandam and Jai in a special appearance.

It has music by Thaman and is in the final stages of filming. There has been good response to the single track teaser of this romantic entertainer.

Simbu’s Vaalu single teaser released Watch and Comment

The young super star Silambarasan aka Simbu has revealed a teaser of a single song ‘lovenraven nee yaaruda ?’ from Vaalu, directed by Vijay Chandar. Vaalu is a comedy flick which has Thaman scoring the music. The 1 minute 45 second teaser of the song which has been penned and sung by none other than Simbu himself has been released online by him for his fans.

Vaalu is a love story and is about a youngster who lives in the railway quarters in Chennai. The film is expected to be a thorough entertainer.Produced by NIC Arts the film has Hansika doing the female lead and Santhanam and VTV Ganesh in important roles.

Simbu’s upcoming films Vaalu and Vettaimannan are expected to hit the screens this year. Check out the teaser below:

What is STR’s gift for Valentine’s Day?

We had earlier reported that a single from STR's Vaalu would be released soon. We now hear from reliable sources that this track would be a special treat for STR fans as it would be released on February 3rd, the star's birthday. The full album of Vaalu would be released on February 14th to coincide with Valentine's Day. Vaalu, being a youthful romantic entertainer, this day looks an apt choice.

Thaman is the man behind the tunes of Vaalu and the actor-composer duo would be looking to repeat the musical success of their 2011 outing, Osthe.

Will Dhanush and STR come together?

The Kollywood grapevine has been abuzz that Dhanush and STR are going to do a film together. The rumours started after both bonded last year in Dubai during SIIMA awards and flew back together.

Later STR threw a big birthday bash for his dear friend, and started hanging out together at popular joints in Chennai and Hyderabad. 

Now the latest rumour is that Dhanush and Simbu are going to do the remake of CV Sridhar's 1978 romantic musical entertainer Ilamai Oonjal Adukirathu which featured Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan along with Sripriya and had great music by Ilayaraja. 

In the remake of Sridhar's romantic classic Dhanush is supposed to do Rajinikanth's role while Simbu will do Kamal Haasan's character. And to make it more imaginative, rumour mills say that Shruthi Haasan will play Sripriya's role ! 

As per our sources, Dhanush and STR are not even aware about the project and dismissed it as " fertile imagination of some fans and journalists." At the moment both the actors have no dates to spare for the next one year.
